Thurday morning I joined the International Women's choir. We are singing Calypso Carol and As Long As There's Christmas. Our director/pianist is Andrea Johnson. I had high hopes that she would be one of my children's music teacher this year but she is the Grade 9-12 music teacher. So I get to enjoy her talents. She and the ladies are really enjoyable and energetic. It will be a highlight of each week for me.
Friday mornings are New in Town Group meetings put on by the school counselors. About ten women who are new to the school meet and learn how to be new comers with support from each other. I really enjoy this group. Today we learned how to listen to help others discover their underlying needs and we talked about the feelings that come at different times when we are new. We went walking around the lake after our meeting and I discovered that one of the ladies is American and lives just down the street from me in our landlord's other house. She even has a son David's age!
After school today (Friday) I met Mr. Schroeder, the former chancellor of Germany (1998-2005). His children attend the school where our children attend. He lives in our neighborhood. Neat!
We took our friends to the zoo after school today. M's friend H (they take violin lessons together) invited her to be best friends since her other best friend moved away. M's reply: "I thought we were already best friends." So cute! H's mom Nanci and I are good friends. The Sorber girls also came and brought their dad Sam. Mom was at home caring for baby K, born last Saturday.
Life is good in Hannover!
